Wrapped in a heavy, woolen cloak, she hovered over a small fire on the lee side of the tumulus as mist and cold swirled around her. The light from the nearly full moon gave the night an unearthly glow. The few sounds which carried over the moor were muted and damped. The Light of the Goddess had moved three hand spans past its zenith when she finally heard sounds approaching; someone grunting and swearing as he made his way through the darkness.
She pulled her stiletto from its sheath, keeping it hidden.
Finally, the man’s form broke through, penetrating the milky, night air.
“Hell’s blood,” he swore, startled.
“Did you bring it?” she asked.
“Of course.” He stumbled, holding out the potion. “Now,” he said, leering, “about tha’ which you promised me—“
She flew at him, her blade flashing.
His blood shone wet and black, gushing in the moonlight.
